Canonicity in Doctor Who

In researching my next article, relating to continuity and canonicity in Doctor Who, I came across a blog post from none other than Paul Cornell! For those of us that don't know, Mr. Cornell is a successful author who has written two episodes of Doctor Who. We have to thank him for: "Father's Day" and "Human Nature/Family of Blood" from series 1 and 3.
It is truly bittersweet to find this article since I essentially wanted to write it. Mr. Cornell does a great job outlining the different mediums of Doctor Who's story and explaining why fifty years of contradictions is what gives the show its longevity.
To sum up what I wanted to say, ironically I'll use a perfect quote from him:
"That doesn't mean we lose the lovely thought that Doctor Who is all one big story. It's one big and very complex story, that rewrites and contradicts itself. That was always the case. Only now it does it with purpose, rather than by accident."

Matt Smith 50th Anniversary Interview

Matt Smith answers questions before the casting decisions for the 50th anniversary were even out. The interview takes place before the premiere of series 7 part 2. He discussed many interesting things from the complicated plots in Doctor Who, Steven Moffat, and even his favorite book.

Christopher Eccleston Says Why He Left Doctor Who - [April 18th, 2015]

Christopher Eccleston (The 9th Doctor) tragically left the show after one season. Although his brief area takes a lot of criticisms, I believe the latter half of his series is one of the most solid periods of the revived show. Although the full story regarding his quick departure has yet to be told, Eccleston gave a little detail during an interview with BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends.

Doctor Who: a celebration of continuity errors

Doctor Who fans are often faced with a struggle. Over fifty years of time traveling can lead to a lot of continuity errors. So fans are either forces to forgive them or make their own explanations.
But is that a bad thing? Or can explaining the vast number of discrepancies be part of the fun?
This article was written in 2012 before the series 7 premiere Asylum of the Daleks.

A Study of the Impossible Girl

Clara Ozwald has always been controversial to the whovians I associate with. That's my way of saying they hated her. Overall, I say the community either loves Clara or finds her annoying. I always liked Clara. So, I searched for some answers and stumbled across this great article. It breaks down the early years of Clara's character and outlines her development leading to the Capaldi era.

Moffat's Final Fan Show Interview - Part 2 [Jan. 17, 2018]

Stephen Moffat's last interview with the Doctor Who Fan Show. It takes place after Twice Upon A Time when he is stepping down as showrunner. He discusses he thoughts on the Matt Smith Era, The Day of the Doctor, and the transition to Peter Capaldi. Surprisingly, he discusses what he would have done if David Tennant had stayed for Series 5.
